Shikarbadi Hotel

Once the personal hunting lodge of the royal family of Mewars, Shikarbadi today serves as a splendid Heritage Hotel of India. Located in the serene and pristine surroundings of the Aravali hills that provide a striking background to this sanctuary-resort, the Shikarbadi Hotel serves as a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city and is just a 15 min drive from the City Palace, the main tourist attraction in Udaipur.

Sited in an idyllic setting, Shikarbadi Hotel offers 25 elegantly appointed, well furnished rooms, all of which are chalet styled, overlooking the Deer Park and the wild life sanctuary. Other hotel amenities include swimming pool, same day laundry, doctor on call, travel counter and money exchange among other things. The Shikarbadi Hotel has a fine array of dining options. Guests can choose from the Indian, Chinese and continental cuisine that is served at the onsite restaurants. In winters, a tented village comes up around the Risala restaurant, for those who prefer a more earthy feeling. To set the mood right, a campfire is lit under the starlit heavens with folk musicians and dancers providing beat and rhythm to an evening's celebrations that includes barbecued delicacies washed down with shots of rum and whisky. Shikarbadi's Wilderness Bar serves an exquisite selection of Indian and foreign liquor.

The Heritage Hotel, which still continues to preserve the rugged ambience of a sanctuary, is a haven for wildlife and haven buffs. There is a licensed Deer Park and also a provision for horseback excursions into the sanctuary and the Aravali hills where one can spot deers, antelopes, wild boars, monkeys and Nilgais. The wildlife at the hotel and the migratory birds adds an unmistakable touch of escapade far from the city life. The Hotel has a private airstrip and houses one of the oldest polo fields and cricket fields of Udaipur.
