Castle Mandawa Hotel

Castle Mandawa is a legend where one leaves all traces of present to stay in the grandeur of royal past. Full of war scarred turrets, legendary canons and lofty domes, this heritage hotel is a curious mixture of the old and the new where medieval palanquin-roofed balconies blend harmoniously with the modern comforts in old-world rooms. It was built by the Rajput ruler of Mandawa,Thakur Nawal Singh, in 1755. This 240-year-old castle is situated in Shekhawati region of Rajasthan and is easily reached by road via Jaipur-Mandawa highway or through the Jaipur airport, which is 168 kms away.

The large and airy rooms of the Castle have been converted into charming, well appointed accommodation, retaining the old flavor using period furniture and local furnishings. Of the total 70 rooms, no two rooms are alike. Each of them displays the grandeur and the taste of the rulers of the past. In the zenana or women's quarters, one room offers antique murals, another has a marble fountain, while the turret room boasts of walls that are 7 feet thick. Diwankhana, the formal drawing room is decorated with family portraits and an array of antique armour. Other hotel facilities include a verandah bar, conference facilities and an ayurvedic centre. The hotel also organizes camel and horse rides, jeep safaris, gala dinners, puppet shows and folk dances, traditional welcome with tilak and garlands, theme weddings, turret dinners and a heritage walk of Mandawa for its guests.

Every meal becomes a memorable occasion whether it is a quiet breakfast on a terrace offering great views of distant temples and cenotaphs, a leisurely lunch in the mural-painted dining room or an alfresco dinner under the stars, entertained by Rajasthani folk singers and dancers.
