Ghanerao Royal Castle

A truly magnificent edifice of red sandstone havelis, marble citadels and miniature paintings, Ghanerao Royal Castle, formerly known as Ganora, was founded in 1606 by Gopal Das Rathore, a brave Rajput warrior from the Mertia clan. The building, designed in the typical Rajput architectural styled with beautifully carved lattice friezes and marble jharokas is reminiscent of past glory and the royal lifestyle. Also, the fascinating village of Ghanerao is strewn with old temples, step walls and marble archways. Situated in the picturesque `Godwar` region, it is strategically placed at the entrance of one of the few passes in the Aravalli that connects the two major cities, Jodhpur and Udaipur at a distance of 110 kms from the airport and 30 kms from the railway station.

The 16 rooms of this heritage hotel can be categorized into suites, deluxe and standard rooms. Each room is different from the other with accompanying balconies, verandhas and terraces. The rooms are fitted with all the modern amenities like attached bath with hot/cold running water, telephones, room service, etc. Other facilities extended by the hotel include massage using age-old oils, doctor on call, laundry and fax. The hotel also arranges for treks to Kumbhalgarh Fort, jeep excursions and horse safaris along with walks to the countryside. Dining options include a multi-cuisine restaurant that also provides buffet service.

Ghanerao Royal Castle's brilliant location in a remote, unspoiled corner of Rajasthan makes it a great place to stay, particularly for outings to Kumbhalgarh Fort, Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary and the Jain temples of Ranakpur.
